About Naive Kalendars

As a young child, Lisa Vandenaker (Naive Kalendars) developed an early and rather serious attachment to the family upright piano, climbing onto the bench at four years old to perform elaborate pretend recitals for no one in particular. Recognizing this quiet fixation, her mother arranged classical lessons, which Lisa pursued (as a rather rebellious pupil) for the next decade.

Eventually, she drifted from strict repertoire into the more unruly territory of songwriting. After a lengthy and faintly mysterious hiatus, she re-emerged in 2019 with a distinctly self-contained method: independently crafting her own sound and aesthetic, as free from influence, instruction manuals, and how-tos as possible. She began teaching herself production, engineering, mixing, and mastering. Eventually Lisa somersaulted into the joyful realm of videography, pairing her music with vintage, reverie-like visuals to complement her rich and eerie musical compositions. She has since established her own label, Luciferin Records, LLC, and overseen every detail of her work (*play) with deliberate, meticulous care.
